Hello,
I have a Hd520 with the Huanyang GDZ-80-1.5kw 80x188 120v water cooled spindle and VFD. I have noticed that the spindle makes noise when cutting, leading me to believe that a bearing it possible going bad. A while back I had a piece come lose caused the Z axis to lose steps, then during the carve it cause my bit to crash into the table and a massive side load that put a decent gouge into the aluminum T tracks.
I am wanting to replace the spindle, but would like to step it up to a 3HP spindle with a ER20 collets. I was doing some digging and there are Huanyang GDZ-80-2.2kw (4 bearing) 120v 80x238 spindles on Amazon.
Read on Maker Hardware Wiki that changing PD142 = 9 in VFD settings should setup the VFD for the 2.2KW spindle. Original setting for PD142 = 7 for 1.5kw
I dont want to spend the extra $$ for items I already have. I would much rather replace just the spindle, if possible, while upgrading to the ER20 collets to allow a better selection of bits.
