I don't know if you found a solution or not, but I had a similar problem. I called tech support and there was a model setting that needed adjusting.

Cutting too deep
I have an HD3 unit which I have upgraded to a HD 5 so I didn't have to have my PC attached as I was having errors. I have no problems when using the laser, but when I do a carving, it always cuts too deep. This past weekend, I went to carve a sign. The wood was a half inch so I set Max carve depth at .225. Instead, it carved through the half inch wood and about an inch into my spoil board. It doesn't seem to make a difference if I use the touch plate or manually set z. The processor they tell you to download is for the HD4. I never had a depth problem when it was an HD3. I have tried to make some items in the past few months and they are always cut way deeper than I want. The problem is I upgraded to Aspire 10 about the time I went to HD5 so not sure if it's a software, hardware, or processor issue.... Anyone know what's going on? Thanks.Tags: None
